What we set on your device, and why.
This page describes the cookies and similar technologies (local storage, pixel tags) used on jobdownup.app. Read it alongside the Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small pieces of data stored on your device by your browser. We also use local storage and a Meta pixel tag (a small tracking image) — this policy covers all three under the shorthand “cookies”.
2. Categories we use
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function (session, security, region detection, consent state). Always on. No consent required.
- Analytics — a random number stored in your browser so we can count how many people visited rather than how many pages loaded. First-party, never shared, and not derived from your IP address or anything about your device. In the EU/UK it is created only after you allow it.
- Marketing / measurement — the Meta Pixel and its server-side counterpart (Conversions API) let us measure whether an ad click turned into a trial. In the EU/UK this only fires after you accept on the consent banner. Everywhere else it is on by default; you can turn it off from this page.
3. Specific cookies and storage we set
| Name | Category | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
jdu_region | Strictly necessary | Remembers the region we detected for you so prices and geo stats stay consistent. | 30 days |
jdu:region (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Remembers if you manually changed currency. | Until you clear browser data |
jdu:consent (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Remembers your storage choices, and the policy version you made them under, so we do not re-ask and do not assume an old answer covers a new purpose. | Until you clear it or change your choices |
jdu:sticky-dismissed (session storage) | Strictly necessary | Hides the sticky call-to-action bar if you dismiss it. | Session |
jdu:vid (local storage) | Analytics | A random identifier, created only if you allow analytics, so we can count how many people visited rather than how many pages were loaded. It is not derived from your IP address, your device or anything about you, and it is not shared. | 180 days |
jdu:utms (local storage) | Marketing | Captures the campaign parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, etc.) from the URL when you first land, so we can attribute conversions later. | Until you clear browser data or delete your account |
_fbp, _fbc | Marketing (third party) | Set by Facebook when the pixel loads (post-consent in EU/UK). Used for ad measurement and attribution. | 90 days (per Meta) |
3b. The app at app.jobdownup.app
The signed-in product runs on a different address and stores a few things of its own. None of them identifies you, none is shared, and none is used for advertising — they remember what you chose. They are listed here because this page claims to be the complete list.
| Name | Category | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
hunter_region (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Remembers the region you chose on the upgrade screen, so prices stay in the currency you picked. | Until you clear browser data |
hd-nav-open (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Remembers whether you collapsed the navigation rail. | Until you clear browser data |
jobdownup:voice:v1 (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Caches the one-line note shown at the top of the app so it is not regenerated on every page load. | Until you clear browser data |
jobdownup:voice:dismissed-at (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Remembers that you dismissed that note, so it stays dismissed. | Until you clear browser data |
__session, __client_uat (Clerk) | Strictly necessary (third party) | Keeps you signed in and protects the session. Set by our authentication provider; without it you cannot stay logged in. | Session, and per Clerk’s own settings |
If we add a new cookie we will update this table before the change goes live.
4. Consent (EU/UK)
For visitors in the EU (including EEA) and the UK, marketing cookies are blocked until you accept them on the consent banner shown on your first visit. We use Meta’s Consent Mode v2: when consent is not granted, the pixel is in a “revoked” state and does not set marketing cookies. You can withdraw consent later at any time — see the next section.
5. How to change your choices
- Change or withdraw your choices: use Cookie preferences in the footer of any page. Withdrawing deletes the optional storage we control — the analytics identifier and the campaign parameters — straight away.
- Delete captured UTMs: clear
jdu:utmsfrom local storage. - Reset detected region: use the currency chip on the pricing card to switch to a different region, or clear
jdu_regionand reload. - An in-page “Cookie preferences” control is planned; until it ships, the above browser-level steps are the way to change choices.
6. Browser-level controls
You can block or delete cookies at any time via your browser settings. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will break the service. Guidance: Chrome · Firefox · Safari · Edge.
7. Changes to this policy
When we add or remove cookies we will update the table above and the effective date. Material changes will be surfaced on the site.
